- Kazuyuki Asakawa: The main protagonist of the novel Ringu and a major character in Spiral, released in 1991 and 1995. He's a news reporter living with his family until his founding of the cursed tapes.
- Kazuyuki Asakawa: The main protagonist of the first live adaption of the Ring: Kazenban, released in 1995. He's living with both of his daughter and lover, after finding a strange tape, he and his friend decided to investigate it, only to then face the true monster.
- Kazuyuki Asakawa: A different variant of the character was introduced in Ring: The Final Chapter, where he is still the main protagonist. In contrast to other versions, he is much older and more developed.
